Erie Insurance Is Down — Here’s What You Need to Know
At Ellen Fenton & Company, we understand that clear communication is essential—especially when things don’t go as planned.
As of this week, Erie Insurance is experiencing a significant network outage that is affecting many of its systems, including online customer portals, policy processing, and certain internal operations. This outage is not unique to our office—it is system-wide across Erie’s entire network.
We want to reassure our clients and provide you with a clear understanding of what this means for your coverage and how we can help in the meantime.
Your Coverage is Safe and Secure
First and foremost, your insurance policy is still active and in force. Even though Erie’s systems are temporarily down, your protection hasn’t skipped a beat.
Here are some important points Erie has shared with us:
No policies will be canceled due to missed payments during this outage.
EFT payments (Electronic Funds Transfers) are not being withdrawn until the system is restored.
Erie Family Life has extended its payment grace period to 30 days.
We want to emphasize: You are still covered.
What to Do if You Need to File a Claim
If you experience a loss and need to file a claim, you have options:
Call Erie’s First Notice of Loss (FNOL) team directly at (800) 367-3743. They can start your claim and reserve any necessary rental arrangements, though they may not be able to verify full coverage details right away.
Contact our office. Our team can assist you in initiating the loss report and ensure it is submitted as soon as systems are restored.
Erie’s claims teams are continuing to work behind the scenes on existing claims, and all updates will be entered once systems are operational.
Need to Make a Payment?
While the online payment system is currently unavailable, you can still call Erie Customer Care at (800) 458-0811 (Option 4) to make a payment over the phone. Or contact our office and our team will document the time in which you paid, save the information, and submit the payment once their systems are back up.
If you’re enrolled in EFT, no funds will be withdrawn until the issue is resolved, and no penalties will apply during this time.
Support Hours
Erie’s service teams are still available by phone:
Customer Care Operations (CCO): Monday–Friday, 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. EST
Life Customer Care Operations (LCCO): Monday–Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. EST
We’re Here for You!
While the situation is not ideal, please know that Ellen Fenton & Company is fully operational and available to support you. If you have questions about your policy, need help with a claim, or just want to talk through next steps, reach out to us. That’s what we’re here for.
We’ll continue to provide updates as we receive them from Erie and keep you informed every step of the way.
Thank you for your trust—and your patience—while this gets resolved.
Stay safe!
